About 175 kids, parents, youth leaders and Christian school teachers stretching from Los Angeles to Corpus Christi joined us for a week of Spring Break Outreaches in El Paso.
This was a challenging Spring Break to plan because we held it in the US due to the Juarez violence situation. All of our contacts from 60 previous week long outreaches are south of the border, so we started from scratch with new plans for food service, lodging, transportation and ministry locations. It was complex and time consuming, but the plans worked. We appreciate our hard working staff so very much!
Every morning the kids and adults split into groups for training in various areas of ministry, then went out in the afternoons to act on what they had learned. This combination of training and doing fits right in with King’s Kids foundational message of helping youth to live out their faith. The areas included construction, children’s ministry, prayer, serving the homeless, street evangelism, Christian activism and world missions.
The Lord blessed us by making all of the new arrangements work out, and we are so grateful for His faithfulness. It was a very fruitful week!A Vacation Bible School in a South El Paso neighborhood brought local kids to hear the Gospel and meet the Lord.
Each night worship led youth and adults into God’s Presence.
There was an amazing response at the altar every night. Usually it takes kids a day or two to respond to invitations to surrender their lives to Jesus and draw close to Him, but this time they were very open and we saw much weeping, personal ministry and commitments to the Lord.
One of the many prayer times around the city was a private meeting to pray with Mayor John Cook in his office!
Pastors Perez and Medina appreciated the construction we did on their churches, building a Sunday School classroom and other jobs.
Spring Break TestimoniesWe always have kids and adults fill out an evaluation form. Here are some of their answers (and their spelling).
List some of the things you learned about God and your relationship with Him.The 9-12 year old Junior Team will have a pretend mission trip to several countries including India, China, Mexico and the inner city, part of the preparation for when they are older and we actually take them to those places.
The teenage Senior Team will have an evangelism training session and then go to a skate park to share the Gospel this month.
