Fall 2009

Philippines Outreach

For our third outreach to the Philippines, our team of 18 targeted an unreached Muslim tribe that’s known in the islands as “the godforsaken.” We saw the Lord open doors as we ministered to hundreds of Badjao children and adults, and many professed faith in Jesus.

Outreaches on four islands brought the Gospel message to thousands of people in plazas, gyms, a prison, churches, a school assembly and youth meetings. The team saw extreme poverty and many shocking situations as we ministered in a dump where the people live on top of 30 feet of compacted garbage, in the Badjao Muslim villages built on bamboo poles over swamps and to wretched beggars.

We served with the Glory Reborn clinic (founded and run by former King’s Kids El Paso members David and Hilary Overton), did a day of medical outreach for poor pastors and their families, and presented Christ to prostitutes, students, many homosexuals, fishermen and street kids. The team had memorable experiences living in the jungle, riding all kinds of boats and eating lots of rice. God blessed us and used the month overseas to change our lives and call some to further missionary service.

Inner City San Francisco Outreach

Our San Francisco team was quite small with only seven kids and staff, but we had a great time and saw God really do some amazing things. The two weeks outreach was split into two different parts. During our first week in the city, we worked with inner city children at a small church in a low-income neighborhood. Most of the children came from difficult backgrounds involving gangs, drugs, and violence. Our group was able to show them the love of Christ and compassion that some of them had never known. Although most of them showed a rough and tough exterior and seemed resistant toward the Lord, we were blessed to see several of them really softened and vulnerable toward the gospel. It was a challenge, but an immense blessing for our team. Our second week was spent working primarily with the homeless and drug addicts in downtown San Francisco. This definitely brought our group out of their comfort zones, but we really saw boldness for sharing the gospel rise up in our kids. We were able to pray with several people on the streets as well as serve food at a love feast hosted by the YWAM base.  Overall, God really moved in the hearts of the team as they grew in different areas and challenges in ministry they’d never been exposed to. Lives were changed through us and among us and we had a wonderful time.

Summer of Service Outreach

This summer God has given us the mandate to make disciples.  We had a great group of kids sign up for the Summer of Service (SOS). we started at the beginning with going through God’s Word, an intensive time of seeing God’s heart, knowing His plan, and our answering the call of God on our lives.  We covered over 1500 scriptures from Genesis to the Resurrection.  We started with 3 day leadership training, backpacking trip that taught us to rely on God, take responsibility and grasp the importance of the people that God places around us. And so much more!  Than we traveled up to Colorado City area where we spent time meeting with God and pursued His Word.  What an amazing time as God made Himself so real to us all, and we had time to respond to Him. It was truly life changing!  From there we served at the “Fascination” youth conference in Colorado Springs.  It was a lot of work but the SOSers rose to the challenge!  The staff at the camp were so blessed that they asked if we would return to work future camps.  Mission accomplished!  Great job outreach team, remember to walk in what God has given us in His Word and live it!    Blessings, Dave and Mary Arnold

Spring Break Outreach March 15-19, 2010

We’re already receiving calls from across the country about the next Spring Break Outreach, which will be held for the second year in El Paso. We expect hundreds of youth and families to have a life changing encounter with God as they reach out to the homeless, have Vacation Bible School for children, do construction projects for small churches, serve the poor and share the Gospel. Contact our office for more information and registration forms. Local Teams Begin

The 9-12 year old Junior Team has more kids than ever before: 32 eager kids started off the year with a training day in September. They will continue training and then begin outreaches in the community.

The teenage Senior Team has a record setting 48 members. We started with a retreat and continued with the beginning of our training days. This year will bring great opportunities for spiritual growth and ministry to others.
