Vision
King's Kids El Paso’s vision is to disciple young people so they can reach the world around them and help fulfill the Great Commission. We accomplish this through the following means:
- Creating an environment for local children and teenagers to minister in the community during the school year
- Developing mission education programs and materials to expand young people’s mission vision
- 12 week Discipleship Course programs for 12–18 year olds
- Camps which give hundreds of youth each year hands on experience in servanthood and evangelism
- Overseas outreaches each summer
- Leadership training to equip other adults to disciple youth
- Working in partnership with parents and the local church to instill godly character in young people
Families
One of our major values is including the whole family in our programs and projects. We encourage parents and grandparents to participate in outreaches and have had people from ages 2–84 at our Spring Break Outreaches. Parents also chaperone events, teach, lead worship and serve the Lord along with their children.
Local Ministry
King’s Kids El Paso involves local youth in evangelism, community service, positive peer influence, cultural education programs and leadership training. We teach youth to share their faith in Jesus, serve others and provide them with opportunities for serving the elderly, poor, homeless and orphans.
King's Kids helps develop young people’s skills in the arts including music, drama, puppetry and dance. Local youth conduct programs at detention facilities, homeless shelters, hospitals, convalescent homes, schools and churches. We help youth find direction and purpose in their lives through personal life vision and goal setting. King's Kids instills and encourages Biblical moral and ethical standards.
In each King’s Kids activity, youth are given responsibilities to lead their peers, with parents and other adult volunteers acting as facilitators. This approach fulfills one of our primary purposes, which is mentoring young people and equipping the next generation for leadership. King’s Kids actively supports parents in the challenges of raising their kids.
King’s Kids local team youth ranging in age from 9–18 have been involved year round in youth rallies, cooperative youth camps and activities with local church and civic groups.
Yearly our local teams have monthly community outreach. Young people in King’s Kids come from about 20 denominations and churches.
Serving Our Community
Throughout the school year, our local King's Kids teams reach out to the same locations where we take hundreds of kids to serve during Spring Break Outreaches. Since El Paso has a large homeless population and many shelters of various kinds, we find great opportunities to help these people with the love of Christ. We also have many housing projects and poor neighborhoods where we hold large events for kids and families, especially around holidays.
Feeding poor families a Thanksgiving feast, taking a Christmas parade float with a live nativity scene and a kids' party to a housing project, building a playground and using sports outreach to draw kids in poor areas of town…we are there. Landscaping a children's home, harvesting vegetables for the food banks, sitting with the homeless and hearing their stories, work projects for the elderly…King's Kids learn to care about our city.
In each King’s Kids activity, local youth learn leadership skills by joining in the planning process and carrying out their plans. Many of our alumni become leaders in their schools and churches, and go on to significant roles of leadership after graduation.
